Catching Up

Summer has just began in our home.  Although school has been out since June, we have been busy with speech therapy camp, occupational therapy, art camp, etc.  For the kids, the moment they get to finally see family, summer has begun!  We enjoyed a week long visit from Papa & Nana Christianson and are now planning a road trip to Nebraska to see the Jones family and escape this Texas heat!

We have purposefully stayed close to home so that we could monitor the progress on our home.  After 3 months of snow and rain, the foundation was finally poured on May 5th.  After driving by the lot for months and seeing no progress, it's exciting to see how quickly things are moving now!  Building a custom home has been fun, but stressful with all of the decisions and unexpected surprises.  Although, I know it will all be worth it once we are moved in and start  making memories.

May 1st

end of May

We were able to go in and write verses on the frame of the house before the sheet rock went up.  It was a special time to pray over each room of the house and imagine what the Lord has planned for our family and for others He brings into these walls.

Written on all of the entrances

Kids got ahold of markers, haha :)
The verses we chose for the kids' rooms are:

Isaac:  "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.  The Lord turn his face upon you and give you hope." Numbers 6: 24-25
(A blessing that I have prayed over him since he was a baby)

Julia:  "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy spirit." Romans 15:13
(A verse that encouraged us during a season of infertility/loss.  Also Julia "Hope"'s dedication verse)

Kai:  The Lord your God is with you.  He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you.  He will quiet you with his love.  He will rejoice over you with song."  Zephaniah 3:17
(A new favorite verse when thinking/praying for my kids)

I have failed to update this blog since early March.  While I have a lot of catch up on including Isaac's 4th birthday, the twins' 6th birthday in May, Kindergarden (round 1) graduation, visit from Uncle Zach, and a visit from Jared's parents.  I will just give you a small glimpse of each child and then overwhelm you with pictures!

Funnies:
Kai- continues to refer to people as "humans."  I think the kids have spent too much time role playing puppy games, that everyone is qualified as a dog or a human!
Julia:  She has the most "Texas" in her as anyone in our family.  She has a southern accent and likes to eat "Aaahs Cream" and go to "Schuwel" (not sure how to spell that!)
Isaac: He has had an intense fear of purple minions since watching Despicable Me II several years ago.  He even splashes water onto the bathroom floor to make the minions slip if they come in to get him!

Sweet:

Kai- He thinks about the future a lot and has ever changing ideas of what he wants to be when he grows up. It varies from police officer, veterinarian, fireman, and dancer.  He recently declared that he wants to "tell others about Jesus" for a job when he grows up.  He wants to drive around in a car (like daddy) and tell others about Jesus, how to pray, read their Bible, and then sing "Do Lord" (Do Lord, oh Do Lord oh Do Remember Me!)  Wouldn't that be awesome if God would use this child and his difficulties with speech and use his voice in public speaking as he spreads the Good news!

Julia- Julia is very creative and has a love and talent for music and art (not from my side of the family)!  She loves to listen to worship songs and will often say that they make her cry.  I love how the Spirit moves in her heart through music.  She is often found in her bedroom belting out princess or "Jesus songs." She can also be very nurturing and dreams about having children of her own and coming over to my house (she is convinced that we will live near each other.....which is fine by me!) and baking together!

Isaac- Isaac has a lot of energy, but he also very tender and loving.  He loves it when our friend's baby comes over.  He is so gentle as he feeds her and plays with her.  His sweetness and charm come out at unexpected times  Often, after being disciplined, he comes to me and tells me his favorite knock-knock joke. "Knock, Knock."  "Who's there?"  "Mommy."  "Mommy who?"  "Mommy, I love you!"

Can't say enough about their sweet teachers and classmates and how blessed our family was from this school year.  Although the twins are doing Kinder again this fall in public school, it was such a great experience.
